about

One of the latest recordings we made with Gadjo, a sea shanty about finding a creative way out a situation that everyone says is hopeless.

lyrics

Every body jumped ship
except Maria and me
We were down on the deck
drinking rum and spiced tea
She sang me songs fast and furiously
fishbone xylophone jumping at her knee.

They dived down to Davie's
while she held me tight
waging pearls for pesetas
till out blew the light
with a bat of her lashes
a smile like a kite
she leaned on the wheel
with all of her might.

They say we're sinking down
but I say we're Mexico bound
They say the boat's a wreck
spirits low below the deck
But I'm of Angela's mind
fill old bottles with new wine
even if they smash, crash
find momentum in the backlash
